My Desktops

I used to use a plugin that allows me to handle multiple desktops, like Linux. Finally I reinstalled this and therefore I have now four desktops to present:

They are all in 1680*1050, since this is my computer’s resolution. You can easily crop or scale it in Photoshop or GIMP. If you want a bigger one, ask me. I might do it.

C-! Yay!

I ain’t any good in mathematics. I admit it and I am not proud of it. The last test was a definite F. I learned – a bit – for the next one and got a C-, which (probably) means I’ll be getting a D at the end of the year. I sure hope so, because that’d mean I don’t have to do the eleventh grade again.

We are nothing. All of we.

I know the title is wrong in terms of grammar.

Have you ever looked around and thought “Damn, this is a big, big land” or something along this line? If you are from Texas, you know what I mean. But also everywhere else you can get the impression that this is a very, very big planet.

You’d be entirely wrong.

A couple months ago I made this tiny Blender render:

Click it to see the real size. It’s big. As you can see, not only that earth ain’t a big planet in our solar system, the sun ain’t a big star, either. The last one, VY Canis Majoris (the “Majorus” is a typo), is bigger than any human could imagine. If I made a shot comparing the size of the earth, or better, a car, to Canis Majoris, you’d just think WHATTHEHELLISTHATTHING? I understand that. Canis Majoris is a red giant, the biggest and one of the brightest stars known to man. Of course, nobody can prove that. It’s 4.900 lightyears away. They think. How does one check that anyway?

Pro•to•type – Synonym for “Awesome”

Prototype sounds like the name of a band you would not even want to know. Actually it is a band name, but this is not what I am talking about.

Prototype is probably the most violent video game ever developed. And I am dead serious about it. Whereas the graphics (at least on my machine) don’t appear to be that stunning, the detail on the city and the possibility to go virtually anywhere are badass. The abilities the protagonist develops look creepy and are deadly. Tearing enemies apart is something he does while having breakfast on a motorbike. Metaphorically speaking, as far as I know you can not ride motorbikes (and actually I have not seen any yet). You can throw cars, though. Prototype plays like a mix of Hitman (go unnoticed as far as possible), Mirror’s Edge (Up the wall and across the street over a hundred metres high) and that Wolverine game that was released recently I never played.

I was surprised how good the performance was on my not as new as I wish computer (little more than a year old). According to the minimum requirements I wouldn’t be able to play it at all, but it turned out it runs smooth on 1024*768 at maxed settings. But it does not look like maxed settings. However. Still a lot of fun.

Ahahahaha! Douchebag.

There are people around the internet. The kind of people you can’t help but laugh about. In a board I am in there currently is one of them.

The guy – who’s name is not to be revealed – tried using the F.E.A.R. SDK without having the full game, just Combat. That usually leads to a couple of problems. His first failure was something with his processing options, he could not achieve a compiled file (or he just was too dumb to find it). At that point, I did not yet realize what kind of douchebag he was, so I tried to help him. First with a step-by-step tutorial, then with this video:

He still didn’t get it and kept making new threads asking for help on different issues with the World Editor. At one point he asked for help with the AI. I told him this ain’t nothing for a noob like him.

And then he revealed his douchebagness: “I got the editor ONLY because of the AI!

I don’t care about making boxes and prefabs, I just want to ‘produce’ these AIs!”

That’s when I told him I refuse to give him any more help. He kept asking more questions. Okay, one time I said something that could be counted as helping. I told him to buy the fricken game. I also told him that I was the only one on the forums who knows the SDK that well as I am the only one there who still works with it (occasionally). Then *snicker* he said he’d go to LithFAQ.com, even though he doesn’t know English! AHAHAHA! Honestly, even though being German, he should know English if he wants to work with a complex tool that has never been translated. Like the PC-Version of Diablo.

Long weekend. Again.

Another extended weekend is lying ahead of me. Do I have any full school weeks left this year? Last week two days, this week three, next week… actually five, but I think two of them are for a project in geographics class – measuring roofs in the town of Mettingen – and as I am not in school then it doesn’t count. It’s basically walking through the town in a group of four or five people, holding a ruler and a protractor in front of a house and guessing the angle of the roof. We have to do about a hundred houses in these two days, which should not be too difficult or exhausting.

At least this way I can ditch another twelve lessons, including sports. I hate sports. Mainly because I hate soccer, volleyball and handball. The fun stuff – basketball, for example – is something we almost never do.

Also ditching IT class then, which means I don’t have to make a presentation about random numbers that are not random but they appear to be bla bla bla. According to some classmates, this would be the last two lessons of IT class this year. Hard to believe, actually. Whatever.

Hitman: Blood Money – Curtains Down (Perfect Rating)

I never really got into Hitman as I tend to just pull out a gun and kill everything that moves, but if one knows what to do, it can be a lot of fun. The second mission (not counting the tutorial) in Hitman: Blood Money is my favorite there.

Background info: You have two targets: An opera singer and a politician who watches. You don’t have to bring anything but the tranquilizers and a mine.

(This video is quite old, by the way)

My personal rules:

  1. Don’t kill innocents.
  2. Don’t draw any attention.
  3. If you have to take down an innocent, use the tranquilizer syringe.
  4. Don’t bring any guns. If you need one, you can easily get it from a guard or similar even without killing him.
  5. Be patient. Really patient. The mission in that video took me fifteen minutes both with and without running.
  6. An accident is always better than an active kill.
  7. Be polite.
  8. Be efficient.
  9. Have a plan to kill everyone you need. (As opposed to the TF2 video “Meet the Sniper” in which he says meet.)

GTR 2: Nordschleife

I got GTR 2 a couple days ago. The version I got did not include the Nordschleife, though. I found it as a 59 MB download. It should be noted that I don’t have a driver’s license and therefore I am an entirely unexperienced driver. Yet I think this went pretty well.

I recorded this video in 1280px*720px, you can watch it in HD. No sound, though.

Damn You, Tube!

My internet ain’t the fastest. Usually, this is not a problem, neither for surfing nor playing On-Line, I get a latency of about 30 to 60 when I’m lucky. My maximum download speed is somewhere at 105 KB/S. My upload doesn’t go higher than 12 KB/S, no matter what I do. So when uploading a video to YouTube that is not in shitty quality, it does take it’s time. Over an hour for a 50 MB video file. I have no problem with this, either. The problem is: WHY DOES IT NOT RECOGNIZE WHEN THE UPLOAD IS DONE? The video I was uploading was finished for, like, five minutes (saying 0:00 minutes remaining) until it realized it was uploaded successful. Actually, this was when I finished the bold-type-sentence. I thought there was some kind of error. And uploading it again would take another hour.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the uploader having a progress bar and estimated time amount, but they should probably improve the calculation. As I am writing this, the video is processing. Will post the video later.
