Scribble (WT)

September 3rd, 2010:

In a lame German lesson we were handed a Goethe poem. Being bored as usual, I drew stick figures on the paper, then platforms. Just like one cheap Jump and Run game.

In the following Math lesson I took a new sheet of checkered paper and… well, drew. The result was a rough sketch of the basic gameplay. I figured that I could pretty much turn this ino a real game and so I did.

Some screens

I did like the style of my Math lesson drawing, so I recreated that best as I could in GIMP.

This shot actually shows in game footage, though of a level that did not make it into the final game.

All levels are hand drawn, so are all objects and even a custom font. The levels are first drawn on an actual piece of paper and then, since I lack a scanner, drawn again on a pre-made image of a piece of paper in GIMP.

The image, by the way, does not show the most recent version of the game. There have been quite a few changes since then, but I was too lazy to make new screenshots.

And finally we have a Demo.

Dvorak

A little addendum to my previous post (which nobody read but what do I care about that):

Dvorak is an alternative keyboard layout. Almost every single letter key is somewhere else, which makes it fairly difficult to type, considering that I know the QWERTZ layout from my mind after well over a decade of using it.

Now, why am I writing this? Because practice is obviously the best way to learn it. And I think I am already getting better at it.

Looks weird, huh? That’s what it looks like to type QWERTY on a Dvorak keyboard. I changed the setting literally minutes ago and I am currently trying to get used to it. It’s really, really fucking weird.
